Introduction

In response to these changes, ECMA has gradually expanded its role beyond that of providing a European umbrella for the national carton associations, developing platforms for the leading pan-European carton makers, and European focus groups ('Forums') for specific segments of the carton industry.

Shaping the common future of the industry at European level is, however, more complex. As part of the ECMA Roadmap 2015 presented on the occassion of ECMA's 50th anniversary, the association launched an ambitious programme for supporting the healthy development of European carton makers, raising the profile and professionalism of the European carton industry, developing advanced international standards and best practices, and helping carton makers grow their international network and expertise.
