Remembering Andrew Hartwig
It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the death, on February 6th, 2021 of Andrew Hartwig, Managing Director until recently, of Firstan.
Our thoughts are with his wife Sally, his family, friends, the Firstan team and business colleagues.
Roel Van Eerd of Royal Van Eerd knew Andrew through ECMA’s Pharma Forum and has written the following memoriam:
“Firstan was started in the mid-1970s. Andrew, as Managing Director and Chairman, made Firstan Quality Packaging, together with his brother Paul and his close friend and business partner Simon, as the UK’s leading independent Pharmaceutical and Food packaging company. It is for this that I admire him highly. Andrew, Paul and Simon were inseparable and always spoke and worked as one team; Andrew was a real entrepreneur and he knew the business very well and I am really proud and thankful to have known him quite well. It is because of the European Carton Makers Associations (ECMA) that I had the chance to meet Andrew, and I really thank ECMA for this opportunity. Big friendships can grow out of the business meetings organised by ECMA and ECMA’s Pharma Forum: friendships that really matter. Sometimes they are just about having fun, but they are also very important to make business more interesting. I will remember Andrew as one of the best hosts I have ever met. Dinner and drinks with him were always a feast! Rest in peace, dear Andrew. My friends of ECMA. Enjoy life, stay safe, and don’t postpone until tomorrow what you can do today!”
