On the 17th April, an update was sent to ECMA Members regarding the recent European Commission workshop concerning the Single Use Plastics Directive (SUPD). The focus of this workshop was to issue guidance on how they will identify and describe the products that will fall into the scope of the SUPD.

Cartonboard packaging is proving to be an essential item that is helping to maintain an effective supply chain for food and pharmaceutical products during the Covid-19 crisis.

The Covid-19 crisis is causing considerable business continuity issues for our members who are affected, for example, with cross-border and intra-country freight delays of incoming raw materials and outgoing finished product, as well as operational challenges resulting from the quarantining of staff.

Continued cross-border and inter-country movement of cartonboard and carton packaging is essential for the continued safe distribution of food and pharmaceutical packaging during the COVID-19 crisis.
